My Life Through Instagram Lately

Bonjour. Aloha. Ciao. ¡Hola!

After the past couple weeks I have had, I have been thinking about a lot of things…one being how much we share with the internet. We are a generation of documentation. Now I know personally, I go through phases with how much I choose to share with the internet, depending on my mood at that time. Like any other debatable subject, the internet has pros and cons to how much we share and what we share. I think the internet is a curse and a blessing all rolled into one. If utilized correctly, it can be extremely beneficial. Especially to someone in a creative field like myself.

But, the point of this post is not to rant about whether the internet is good or evil…no thank you. I wanted to introduce you guys to my Instagram life! I think it is amazing how quickly you can find out information about someone just through what they put on the internet. Imagine not being able to do that…if you are curious about someone or something all you have to do is head on over to Google! Results will show personal and professional information 90% of the time…that is unless that person lives under a rock. About a year and a half ago I downloaded Instagram to my iPhone, and before I knew it the way I shared information with the internet transformed. No longer was it simply about uploading albums onto Facebook for your friends to see. Instagram allowed a more focused and creative approach for sharing photos. Each photo began a piece of artwork, literally. People began to see there daily meals, morning coffee, fresh set of nails, evening sunset, etc all as snapshots that would catch the attention of others. It is funny to think about how much effort people put into taking a picture of their breakfast. But, regardless if you think it is dumb or not…that picture of your breakfast is about to be seen by hundreds of people so you better pick a good filter!

Naturally I was hooked from the beginning. I love taking pictures…nothing beats capturing a memory that will be lost before the flash of the camera even goes off. Once you have a picture of it, you have that moment forever. I love going back throughout the timelines of all my social networks and observing how much I have grown since I made those posts back in time. So, with that said I had this idea…this type of post could be a reoccurring one depending on how many worthy Instagram photos I take, I could share them with you here. Hence the title of this post: My Life Through Instagram Lately. With each photo I post…whether it is a picture as simple as my new nail color or an outfit I put together, there is a story behind why I posted it. I know I would love to hear why other post the pictures they do on the internet. Why not share a little glimpse of those stories here?

Here goes nothing…

Photo credit goes to my brother here. It was Christmas day and we were headed to the hospital to see my Grandfather for the holiday. Despite the fact we were head to the hospital, we were dressed to the nines. Logan and I actually fought before we left because he wanted to wear a jacket that looked identical to the one I layered over this get up. I won in the end…sorry Log.

Here is Logan everybody, free spirited wanna be pirate and lover of cats. There isn’t a day that goes by that he doesn’t do this to one of my cats. This ones name happens to be  Moo, and he is Logan’s best friend…maybe only friend…I don’t know, I am still trying to decide. :p

IMG_5504

This lovely picture took place on Christmas Day also…Moo spent about three hours that morning inside this box. At one point I went to move it to the trash before I realized there was a cat in it. Once he found he way out of this box, he just moved into another. Quite a character this one  is…

Presenting the jacket Logan picked out and purchased for me. He was beyond excited to hand me this gem, and I don’t blame him one bit. I am not a fan of plain ole’ denim jackets but, leave it up to Logan to find me one unique enough for my approval and worthy of a picture.

My friends and I always go Noodles & Co. for dinner on Tuesdays…yes, specifically Tuesdays. That is the day we all see each other and actually have time to eat. Each time I go to order I usually get a caesar salad and I just stare at the giant cookies they have tempting me at the register. On this specific day after I finished my salad, I couldn’t resist the deliciousness of this cookie any longer. So, I went up to buy one before we all headed back to class, and in my favor the manager gave me this lovely creation for FREE! I was quite excited to say the least.

I personally do not enjoy wearing my hair up at all. My hair is my security blanket, and when it is up I feel naked. On this random Wednesday in February, 51likes insisted I put my hair up for once. I was against it but caved in to letting her put it up for me. This is what she came up with, and I must admit…it looked pretty awesome with all the crazy colors I have going throughout my hair. Thanks Sam.

These pictures took place on a semi sunny day last month. My friends and I were on our usual trip to noodles, and decided it was a day to celebrate shoes, clothes, and friends? I don’t really know. We always get on the Instagram rants, and these photos come out of them.

IMG_6120Wacky Wednesday. Enough Said. I am kidding…kinda. A couple weeks back I realize how many ridiculous things I see throughout Pittsburgh every single day. So, I decided to challenge my brother to a weekly Wacky Wednesday post in honor of those ridiculous things. This picture was definitely a winner. Logan and I sometimes slack on the post weekly thing but, when we do post one it is a memorable one and worth the documentation.

There is a small cafe behind AiP that Sam and I visit weekly. It is the most relaxing atmosphere you can find in the middle of the Boulevard of the Allies in Pittsburgh. So, we often find ourselves running there for the comfort of it all. There are other perks to the atmosphere they have created there though…there meals are AMAZING. All the food they sell is organic, fresh, and delicious. I always find myself snap a picture before I touch a single thing on my plate because it is just that pretty.

IMG_6232

Ah this dress…I have mentioned before I am a lover of lace and all things vintage, no wonder I love this piece so much. I find it sitting in my closet more than I wear it because it is too pretty to be exposed to the world. One day I was feeling brave and wore it out…paid off I guess, I enjoyed wearing it for once.

IMG_6278

Who doesn’t love sunshine in February? This picture took place on a day when the weather was a little to kind to us…it snowed the next day. But, Sam and I still enjoyed our lunch at Verde. Then took some shots in front of our favorite door downtown and soaked up the nice weather.

IMG_6291

Once again credit for my hair being up goes to 51likes, she was very proud of this little braid. I guess I didn’t mind having my hair up if it looked this cool…

IMG_6388

Ah, this photo is a behind the scenes look from the photo shoot I talked about in an earlier post: What About Works In Progress? After we were done working on what needed to be done for the project, my entire family found themselves mesmerized my roses and some chalk dust. It is not uncommon for things like this to happen around the Erdner household.

IMG_6415

I am disappointed to say that this photo represents a time that I was under dressed and not included in the pictures being taken for the day. So, Richard and I decided to still capture our Plain Janeness for the day by taking this gem.

IMG_6642

Classy huh? This picture actually took place last night as my friends and I were working on shooting a commercial for our Prismacolor campaign. I had an extremely long day working both of my part time jobs, and my feet hurt. So, Sam was generous enough to lend me these ridiculous slippers to show off.

IMG_6644AAAAAND, we have reached the last image for today’s post. It is a preview of the commercial we worked on last night. Richard was so generous to help us and let us use his fancy equipment to get the correct lighting. I will be breaking this project down in the near future for you guys so stay tuned.

So sorry if you were overwhelmed by the length of this post. Future Instagram related posts will not be nearly as long. I had a lot of recent images to get you caught up on. Think of it this way…out of the 1382 pictures I have on my account, this was nothing!

Thanks for reading!
